Abstract
Qing-Fei-Tang, one of the traditional Chinese medicine decoction recorded in Wan-Bing-
Hui-Chun, used to treat Lung heat diseases, consists of 16 single herbs and is currently listed
in THP4. It is widely used in both decoction and concentrated preparations. However, there is
no established quality control method for Qing-Fei-Tang on the market. In our study, we
investigated 16 markers and selected the six most suitable markers including geniposide from
Zhi-zi, narirutin and hesperidin from Chen-pi, baicalin, wogonoside, and baicalein from
Huang-qin, to develop a quantitative method for Qing-Fei-Tang. This included the
development of an HPLC method to assess the content of these markers in both standard
decoction and concentrated preparations, providing reference values for determining the
formula's lower limits. Additionally, we proposed a fingerprint analysis involving three
collaboration pharmaceutical industrial laboratories to further standardize the quality control
of Qing-Fei-Tang. In addition, this study serves as a reference model based on the regulations
and standards set by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Taiwan for establishing
quantitative methods for decoctions on the market.
