HBK: A novel compound herbal formulation has an aging slowing

Abstract
The world is aging rapidly with virtually every nation experiencing growth in the number
and proportion of older individuals. Alongside dietary restriction methods, natural herbal
therapies are being considered as potential strategies to delay aging and mitigate age – related
decline. In this study, we evaluated the effects of specific formulation of the extract of a defined
mixture of herbs and foods termed HBK on age markers in Drosophila melanogaster. Our
findings indicate that HBK significantly extends lifespan and improved age – associated
declines in locomotor activity, vision. Survival assays revealed greater lifespan extension in
male flies compared to females. These results support the potential of HBK as a natural
intervention to promote healthy aging.
