Abstract
Dropping pills, a solid dispersion dosage form, are valued for their rapid dissolution,
enhanced bioavailability, efficacy, minimal side effects, stability, and streamlined production
and quality control. Antrodia cinnamomea (AC), a medicinal mushroom endemic to Taiwan,
has been traditionally used to treat liver diseases, diarrhea, abdominal pain, hypertension,
allergies, skin conditions, tumors, and intoxication. Rich in bioactive lanostane and ergostane
triterpenoids, AC exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, PPAR-α activation, and ALDH2
activation properties, making it a promising candidate for managing stroke, dysautonomia, and
cardiovascular diseases. The single-herb dropping pill formulation of AC extract enhances the
solubility, dissolution, and bioavailability of its triterpenoids. In prior work, we conducted
qualitative RP-HPLC-UV analysis of triterpenoid components and quantitative analysis of AC
extract in dropping pills, including excipient proportions. This study evaluates the quality and
consistency of multiple batch productions of AC fruiting body single-herb dropping pills,
ensuring control over the entire process—from raw material sourcing to extraction and final
pill production. Our findings confirm robust quality assurance and standardized production of
this valuable natural product formulation.
