               ◼  Biography

                  Dr. Victor B. Amoroso is a University Professor Emeritus, a retired Career Scientist III of the
               Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Founding Director of the Center for
               Biodiversity Research and Extension in Mindanao (CEBREM) in Central Mindanao University,
               Musuan,  Bukidnon,  Philippines.  A  member  of  the  Philippine  Academy  of  Science  and

               Technology (NAST) in 2018, he was awarded as one of the Outstanding Young Scientists of
               NAST in 1991.
                  As a trailblazer in the field of taxonomy and Philippine biodiversity, Dr. Amoroso has helped
               unravel  mysteries  of  biodiversity  through  years  of  leading  countless  Mindanao  mountain

               explorations,  which  dealt  on  the  conservation  of  threatened,  endemic  and  economically
               important plants in Southern Philippines. His groundbreaking transdisciplinary research led to
               the discovery of 37 new species of flora and fauna and the publication of 207 scientific articles.
               Additionally,  his  research  interest  includes  the  medicinal  and  edible  species  of  ferns  and

               selected underutilized flowering plants. Together with his research team, this work has led to
               the development of a natural fungicide and a range of innovative food products.
                  As one of the pioneers in the scientific community, Dr. Amoroso has spent his life in teaching,
               mentoring  and  collaborative  research,  which  has  inspired  countless  individuals  to  pursue

               careers in research and conservation, leaving a lasting impact on Philippine biodiversity.
