◼ Biography
Professor Wei Chen received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from National Taiwan
University. He then received his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the University of California
Los Angeles (UCLA). Following this, he joined the Center for Nanomedicine, Brigham and
Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Harvard University as a postdoctoral researcher.
He is currently an assistant research fellow at the Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica.
The Wei Chen Lab integrates expertise in nanomedicine, drug delivery technologies,
biomedical engineering, and biology. Our research focuses on developing advanced materials,
including engineered nanoparticles, siRNA/mRNA nanotechnologies, and “engineered living
materials” such as cells and bacteria. These platforms enable nano/microscale therapeutic
strategies for cancer, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and inflammatory disorders.
Professor Chen has received numerous domestic and global awards, including 2030 Cross-
Generation Young Scholars Program, Emerging Young Scholars, National Science and
Technology Council (Taiwan); Nanoscale Emerging Investigator Award, Royal Society of
Chemistry (UK); Young Scientist Award, International Association of Advanced Materials
(Sweden); Japan Society for the Promotion of Science HOPE Fellow (Japan); American Heart
Association (AHA) Transformational Project Award, Co-Investigator, AHA, (US); and “Dr.
Yun MOU” Outstanding Young Scholar Award, Taiwan Nanomedicine Society (Taiwan), etc.
Professor Chen has so far authored more than 60 peer-reviewed papers including 25+ first-
author or corresponding-author papers in prestigious journals such as Nature Nanotechnology
